Braidotti

Catherine Belsey

pp. 77-85

Rosi Braidotti's collection of essays, Nomadic Subjects, subtitled "Embodiment and Sexual Difference in Contemporary Feminist Theory", opens with a retrospective introduction, "By Way of Nomadism", surveying and summarising the position developed by the whole (1994: 1–39). Other essays in the book concern pornography, monsters ("the bodily incarnation of difference", 78), Deleuze (a major influence on Braidotti), Irigaray, the European Community and other topics. Surprisingly, one of these, "Ethics Revisited: Women and/in Philosophy", makes no reference at all to Derrida (elsewhere there is an allusion to "the Derrida fad", 155).
