(2019) María Zambrano's ontology of exile, Dordrecht, Springer.

Introduction

Karolina Enquist Källgren

pp. 1-22

This chapter introduces the problem of transcendental subjectivity within the framework of María Zambrano's exile ontology. It is argued that Zambrano's works contain a comprehensive and coherent theory of subjectivity, directly related to her exile experience as well as her notion of poetic reason. Even though her texts are based on an associative and figural style of writing, rather than logical argumentation, a coherent argument can be disclosed by following the development of the figures through her work, as well as of connecting figures to each other. Furthermore, by connecting figures and string of figures to other authors that she read, such as José Ortega y Gasset, Xavier Zubiri and Martin Heidegger, the figures gain philosophical meaning.
