Introduction

writing and unwriting Asian architecture

pp. 1-33

The introduction explores architecture and Asia through a focus on theory along three epistemological axes: historiography, philosophy and human sciences. It is a theoretical exercise analysing Asian architecture's history and locating it in theory discourses at a time when the region is gradually drawing the attention of the world as it emerges from a relatively unregarded state. The introduction is also a methodological contextualisation of the book.
