(1970) The structure of social inconsistencies, Dordrecht, Springer.
The most explicit theories of relevance have been developed by Alfred Schütz and Aron Gurwitsch. They depend partially on certain notions of William James, which are traced back to Charles Peirce. His theory of abduction allows translating the main hypothesis into some constitutive principles for social types.
