Johann Amos Comenius hat in seinen philosophischen, wissenschaftlichen, politischen, sozialen und erzieherischen Werken die Bedeutung von Freiheit, Verantwortung und Identität herausgestellt. Er fühlte sich dazu verpflichtet, den Menschen ihr höchstes Gut zu zeigen und sie dazu zu veranlassen, Glück zu begehren und anzustreben. Ihm folgend ist der Weg zum Glück einfach: Er bezeichnet ein ständiges Lernen, Lernen »ohne Grenzen« (Sitarska 2008: 347), und Wissenschaft für alle und über alles. Das ganze Leben wird so zur Schule und Lernen erhält Priorität vor allem anderen. Wenn man das ganze Leben derart als Lernen versteht, besteht die Chance, dass sich die Menschheit immer vollkommener entwickelt. Dies bedeutet aber zugleich, dass sich diese Entwicklung nicht automatisch vollzieht. Vielmehr erfordert sie gezielte, konsequente und kreative Arbeit. AbstractIn his philosophical, scientific, political, social and educational writings, John Amos Comenius stresses the importance of freedom, responsibility and identity. He feels obliged to show mankind what man's highest good is, and to guide all men in such a way that they strive for happiness in life. Following Comenius, the way towards happiness is easily identified (Sitarska 2008: 347). It is continuous learning, learning without barriers, with science for everybody and about everything. The whole of life thus becomes a sequence of ›schools‹, and learning obtains priority above everything else. If one understands the whole of life in this sense, men will have the opportunity to develop in an ever more and more perfect way. However, this implies that the positive development does not happen automatically and by itself. What is needed is focused, consequent and creative work.
