Relational social work practice with Asian American populations

This chapter describes the essentials of clinical social work practice with Asian Americans, specifically as it connects to relational frameworks that focus on interpersonal relationships and client-worker connections. Due to the increase in Asian populations in the United States and the global trend of working with Asian immigrants, this study highlights the importance of clinical work with this population. It details ten practice principles based on current research, along with case materials for social work professionals who work with diverse populations and for professors who teach multicultural practice. Specific practice strategies and directions for evaluation are also provided.
