Impulse pattern formulation

Rolf Bader

pp. 285-296

The Impulse Pattern formulation is a synergetic, global framework for musical instruments. Starting from one global equation and choosing several parameters, instrument families or individual instrument can be derived. Still as these derivatives all come from the same global equation, relations between instruments can be understood in terms of these parameter changes. This holds especially for the initial transients of the instruments, which the method displays as Impulse Patterns underlying the sound waveform. Again, different initial transients from one instrument but also between instruments can therefore be compared in terms of a global understanding.
