The preceding nine masterful essays are very and variedly flattering to me. Not only do their authors discuss my views with an honest desire to ascertain their nature and their explanatory power. They have, furthermore, presented my views correctly — so correctly, indeed, that for a moment I lived the illusion that the proclaimed difficulty and obscurity of my writings was a myth — but this illusion was quickly dispelled: given the evident high calibre of these authors, they could not but exercise their brilliant exegetical powers and their clarifying touch, thus bestowing their own clarity upon my well documented obscurity. Moreover, with full command of their priorities, these authors have posed illuminating problems and queries that go directly to the heart of the philosophical issues in question.
