The journal Études Phénoménologiques – Phenomenological Studies is seeking submissions in English and French for its eighth issue on the topic:
“Democracies in Crisis”

The involvement of phenomenology in social or political crises (Heidegger, Merleau-Ponty, Sartre, Patočka, Derrida)
The political efficacy of phenomenology (Merleau-Ponty, Lefort, Arendt, Ricoeur, Derrida)
Phenomenologies of solidarity (Sartre, Ricoeur, Levinas)
Personal, cultural, or political identity (Heidegger, Ricoeur, Levinas, Foucault)
The utopia of being “beyond borders” and “at the margin” (Merleau-Ponty, Derrida, Deleuze)
Phenomenological treatment of specific problems, such as:
Freedom of speech: from a condition for democracy to an instrument of oppression
The common good: between a transcendent value and a contractual product
Individuality within social structures of power and normalization
Cultural identity at the expense of solidarity?
The praise of the difference: compromising the social fabric?
Challenges to democracy: pandemics, migrations, nationalisms, economic disparities
The “citizen of the world” in a global and fractured political landscape
