Mindscapes of Palestine

Erin B. Mee

pp. 223-225

When Naomi Wallace and I went to the West Bank in 2011 on a trip organized by New York Theatre Workshop, we met Juliano Mer Khamis, artistic director of The Freedom Theatre (TFT) in Jenin. He explained to us his mission to create a venue to support the Palestinian people in their struggle for liberation with art, poetry, music, film, and theatre. My learning curve on that trip was vertical, and Naomi was one of many guides who helped me navigate and understand the mindscapes of Palestine. We became both friends and colleagues.
