A methodology and maturity critique of an intranet development

David W. Wilson

pp. 46-52

This paper describes the development of a small intranet which is a major communications facility of the Information Systems and Management Honours programme at Birkbeck College. The development is critiqued in the light of a well known framework for Computer Supported Co-operative Working and various well known methodological frameworks of Information Systems Development. Whilst those frameworks throw some light on the practice there are other questions which reflective practice throws up and these are also surfaced. This paper reviews the development of the intranet site used to communicate to students seeking the BSc (Hons) in Information Systems & Management (IS & M) award at Birkbeck College, University of London. The development is critiqued in the light of a number of Information Systems Development Methodologies and Maturity Models of Information Systems Development.
