Understanding the Greek crisis and digital media

a cyberconflict approach

Ioanna Ferra

pp. 259-281

The multidimensional Greek crisis is an illustrative example of the global recession era and austerity politics. Following the collapse of the political system and social welfare, the contribution of ICTs in the emergence of new political and social structures was significant. This chapter puts forth the idea that Karatzogianni's cyberconflict framework is an effective approach to understanding ICTs' impact in the contemporary socio-political turmoil and the development of radical politics in the Greek crisis era.
