Today's societies include many processes, which establish a tremendous amount of feedback on society. As an illustration, one can think of the car industry. It has the explicit aim of producing cars, selling cars, and making this a profitable business. The car industry may experience prosperous periods; or it could go into recession. Such considerations refer to the explicit dimension of car production. However, there is also an implicit dimension of this production. It needs resources, and this brings about a competition in getting access to resources. Cars need petrol, and this may provoke international conflicts related to the problem of controlling access to oil. One can also think of pollution as an example of an implicit production conducted by the car industry, and of the entire network of motor roads, including the accidents that take place, as being part of the implicit production of the car industry.
